GEORGIANA AND ANDALUSIA RAILROAD

The Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad LLC is a 36-mile short line in southern Alabama. It's the Pinsly Railroad Company's 9th short line.

Overview

Route: Georgiana to Andalusia, Alabama, running alongside US-31 / AL-55. Interchanges with CSX at Georgiana.
Owner: Pinsly Railroad Co., headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. The portfolio now includes Camp Chase, Chesapeake & Indiana, Florida Gulf & Atlantic, Georgiana & Andalusia, Grenada, Hondo, North Florida Industrial, Pioneer Valley, and Vermilion Valley.
Operations: Pinsly announced it assumed operations in October 2025. The line had been out of service since November 2024 due to deteriorating track conditions.

Re-opening

After buying the line from Genesee & Wyoming's Three Notch Railway LLC, Pinsly invested more than $6 million in renovations, including more than 38,000 crossties, resurfacing and ballast.

Revenue freight resumed Jan. 19-20, 2026 with a ribbon-cutting in Andalusia. Anchor customers at the Andalusia end are Shaw Industries Group (carpet manufacturer) and Arclin (materials and polymers).

Lineage

The corridor dates back to the early 20th Century as part of the Alabama and Florida Railroad. More recently:

1992-2001: Alabama and Florida Railway under Pioneer Railcorp
2001-2011: Gulf & Ohio as Three Notch Railroad
2011-2025: Genesee & Wyoming as Three Notch Railway
2025-present: Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad under Pinsly

The original route was a Louisville & Nashville line.
