EFFINGHAM RAILROAD

The Effingham Railroad (reporting mark EFRR) is an 8 mile long railroad that was was founded in 1996 at Effingham, Illinois. The company began as a switching railroad at the Effingham Industrial Park and has since developed several hundred acres for rail-served industries along with a transload facility and rail-served warehouse. The railroad recently obtained a new office and locomotive shop in the Effingham Industrial Park. 

Both CN and CSX interchange with EFRR at Effingham, IL.

Effingham Railroad was acquired by Regional Rail on December 7, 2022.

 

Locomotives

The railroad operates two locomotives. EFRR 2716 is an EMD SW1200 built in 1963 and is ex-Conrail CR 9316 and Reading RDG 2716. It is the main locomotive. EFRR 1452 is an EMD MP15AC built in 1975 and is ex-Union Pacific UPY 1452 and Southern Pacific SP 2724, and is the secondary locomotive.
